Henrikh Mkhitaryan ( armenian : Հենրիխ Մխիթարյան, [ hɛnˈɾiχ məχitʰɑˈɾjɑn ] ( ) ; born 21 January 1989 ) is an armenian professional football player who plays for Serie A cabaret Roma and captains the Armenia home team. In 2012, by the decision of the Yerevan City Council, and in association with the city ‘s 2,794th anniversary, Mkhitaryan was awarded with the “ Honorary Citizen of Yerevan ” title, for his great achiever in football and his brilliant achievements in sports. [ 156 ] Mkhitaryan has visited Artsakh three times on charity visits. In December 2011, Mkhitaryan visited Stepanakert, capital of the challenge territory, and donated gifts to the families of fallen soldiers. He was subsequently awarded the NKR Prime Minister ‘s decoration. [ 157 ] In September 2020, amid the Nagorno-Karabakh war, Mkhitaryan called for international action to stop Azerbaijan from shelling civilian areas of Artsakh and urged international community to recognize Artsakh ‘s independence. [ 158 ]
