Wanda Maximoff is a fabricated character portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ( MCU ) media franchise who is based on the Marvel Comics character of the lapp name. Wanda is depicted as a Sokovian refugee who, along with her counterpart brother Pietro, volunteers to be experimented on by Hydra. Rogers, Romanoff, and Wilson rescue them and take them to the Avengers Compound, meeting with Rhodes and Banner. Vision asks Wanda to destroy the Stone, but she refuses.
