[ 186 ] [ 187 ] Klopp has stated that a well-executed counter-pressing system can be more effective than any playmaker when it comes to creating chances. [ 188 ] Commenting on his press tactics, Klopp said that “ The best moment to win the ball is immediately after your team just lost it. The opposition is still looking for orientation course where to pass the ball. He will have taken his eyes off the game to make his undertake or interception and he will have expended energy. Both make him vulnerable ”. [ 189 ] The tactic requires capital amounts of speed, organization and stamen, with the theme of regaining possession of the ball as far up the gear as possible in holy order to counter potential counter-attacks. [ 190 ] It besides requires high levels of discipline : The team must be compact to close down spaces for the adversary to thread passes through, and must learn when to stop press to avoid debilitation and protect from long balls passed into the space behind the pressing defensive structure. [ 189 ] Despite Klopp ‘s pressing tactics resulting in a high attack output, his Liverpool side was criticised at times for its inability to control games and keep clean sheets.
