Helsingborgs IF ( option spelling Hälsingborgs IF ), normally referred to as Helsingborg ( swedish : [ hɛlsɪŋˈbɔrj ] ( ) ), or ( specially locally ) HIF ( IPA : [ ˈhôːiːˌɛf ] ), is a swedish professional football club located in Helsingborg. They played in the swedish second tier, Superettan in 2018, but were promoted to Allsvenskan ahead of the 2019 season. Formed in 1907, the clubhouse has won five national backing titles and five home cup titles. Helsingborgs IF have besides won Allsvenskan on two occasions when the championship of swedish champions was not decided by the result of that league. [ 1 ] [ A ]

Helsingborg was a fall through member of Allsvenskan, and between 1924 and 1968 they spent all but two seasons in the top class, and won the league five times. Helsingborgs IF was formed in 1907 as a consequence of the amalgamation of Svithiod and Stattena ( not to be confused with the Stattena IF of today ), and the club played their first game on 6 June 1907, beating neighbours IFK Helsingborg 6–2. Otto Malm was a star of the team ; in the 1911–12 season he scored 69 goals in alone 24 games. At the end of his prison term at Helsingborgs IF he had played 500 games and scored 735 goals. In the group phase Helsingborg drew Rosenborg BK, Paris Saint-Germain F.C. and FC Bayern Munich. FC Bayern Munich later moved on all the way to win the final in San Siro beating Valencia CF in penalties, beating every team in their home ground except for Helsingborg. Following a few years absence from european football, Helsingborg made its return in the 2007–08 UEFA Cup. After eliminating JK Narva Trans ( 9-0 on agg. ), Drogheda United F.C. ( 4-1 on agg. ), Dutch side SC Heerenveen was to be the final opposition before heading in to group stage. Helsingborg lost the first game in Abe Lenstra Stadion after a 5-3 consequence which left most fans in despair for the home game. however, after a confident 5–1 winnings at Olympia [ 6 ] with the open goal from Helsingborg legend Henrik Larsson, Helsingborg once again moved on to the group stage. Helsingborg played well in the group degree but after a 3–2 loss in Germany against Hannover 96, a finish 3–1 victory against FC Twente away from home would not be enough for Helsingborg to qualify for the round off of 32 .

- ^[2] The title of “ swedish Champions ” has been awarded to the winner of four different competitions over the years. between 1896 and 1925 the title was awarded to the achiever of Svenska Mästerskapet, a stand-alone cup tournament. No club were given the title between 1926 and 1930 evening though the first-tier league Allsvenskan was played. In 1931, the deed was reinstated and awarded to the achiever of Allsvenskan. Between 1982 and 1990 a play-off in cup format was held at the end of the league temper to decide the champions. After the play-off format in 1991 and 1992 the style was decided by the winner of Mästerskapsserien, an extra league after the end of Allsvenskan. Since the 1993 season the title has once again been awarded to the winner of Allsvenskan .
