Lionel Sebastián Scaloni ( spanish pronunciation : [ ljoˈnel eskaˈloni ] ; born 16 May 1978 ) is an Argentine professional football coach and former player who is the coach of the Argentina home team. A player of wide rate, he operated as a good second or correct midfielder. He spent most of his professional career with Deportivo in Spain, amassing totals of 258 games and 15 goals over 12 seasons in La Liga with three teams. He besides played several years in Italy, with Lazio and Atalanta.
