historical graph of Werder ‘s league performance after the second World War On 4 February 1899, FV Werder Bremen was founded by a group of 16-year-old students who had won a football, after they were triumphant in a tug of war tournament. [ 4 ] The students took the name “ Werder ” from the german word for “ river peninsula ”, which described the riverbank field on which they played their foremost football games. The club ‘s first gear match was played on 10 September 1899 against ASC 1898 Bremen, winning 1–0. In 1900, the team was represented at the initiation of the German Football Association ( DFB ) at Leipzig. They then enjoyed some early achiever, winning a count of local championships. They re-constituted themselves on 10 November 1945 as Turn- und Sportverein Werder 1945 Bremen, which was changed to Sport-Club Grün-Weiß 99 Bremen on 4 February 1946. The team played in the Stadtliga Bremen, and after winning the competition, participated in the northerly German backing, advancing to the quarter-finals. They were able to reclaim the name SV Werder on 25 March 1946 before taking share in the play-offs. [ 4 ] In these years, professionals were not permitted to play in Germany, so it was normal for football players to take on other jobs, much with the cabaret ‘s local patron. Werder Bremen have used several different crests during their history. Their first base crest was created in 1900 ; a monogram, which spelled “ FVW ”, as the club was then known as “ FV Werder Bremen ”. [ 42 ] The logo was replaced in 1902 by a green-coloured crown, which spelled the initiation year 1899 in the top leave corner, “ F.V.W. ” diagonally in the center, and “ Bremen ” in the bottom justly corner. It was modified in 1911, as the inscriptions were placed diagonally, and the badge ‘s color became black with a green stripe that crossed it, along with a change in the crest ‘s outline.
