Nogometni klub Maribor ( english : Maribor Football Club ) is a slovenian professional football baseball club based in Maribor, Slovenia. It competes in the slovenian PrvaLiga, the top tier of the slovenian football league system. Nicknamed “ The Purples ” ( Vijoličasti ), the clubhouse was founded on 12 December 1960. Founding and early years ( 1960–1967 ) [edit ]

Nogometni klub Maribor was founded on 12 December 1960 by officials and players of NK Branik Maribor, a club that folded a few months early. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Srečko Koren was appointed the first president of the golf club, and Andrija Pflander the first gear head coach. Yugoslav top division ( 1967–1972 ) [edit ]

The current crest of the club is based on the official coat of arms of the city of Maribor, which is in turn based on a 14th-century seal with minor differences. 19Croatia Stipe Balajić, defender and midfielder ( 1998–2005 ) Number 19. It was retired in honor of Stipe Balajić, who was with the club for eight seasons in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Maribor ‘s score of 15 slovenian Championships [ 166 ] and the sum of 9 slovenian Cup titles [ 167 ] is the highest in slovenian football. Maribor holds the record for most consecutive league titles ( 7 ), ahead of Olimpija ( 4 ) and Gorica ( 3 ).
