The 2020 concluding was Kuipers ‘s ninth international final ; he had officiated those of several UEFA youth competitions, the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2013–14 UEFA Champions League, the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2017–18 UEFA Europa League. [ 2 ] The final was the fourth time Kuipers had refereed Italy and the one-third for England, which includes the group stage touch between the two sides at the 2014 World Cup, which Italy won 2–1.
