Hamza Dewan Choudhury ( bear 1 October 1997 ) is an english professional football player who plays as a defensive midfielder for Premier League club Leicester City. He has made over 70 appearances for Leicester since 2017, and won the FA Cup in 2021. He has represented England at under-21 level .
Club career [edit ]
Choudhury began his career at the Leicester City Academy, and at the age of 16 was reportedly monitored by a count of top european club. [ 3 ] He joined League One leaders Burton Albion on a one-month loan share on 27 February 2016. On 26 May 2018, Choudhury made his debut for the England national under-21 football team, coming on as a ersatz during the 2–1 winnings against China under-21 in the 2018 Toulon Tournament. Choudhury is of Bangladeshi-Grenadian ancestry. He was raised in a traditional Bengali Muslim family, and has visited Bangladesh since he was a child. [ 23 ] [ 24 ] His mother and step-father are both Bengalis, and his ancestral home is the Dewan Bari in Snanghat Union, Bahubal, Habiganj District in Bangladesh. [ 25 ] [ 26 ] Choudhury can speak Bengali with a good degree of eloquence. [ 27 ] He is eligible to play for the Grenada home team through his biological forefather. [ 28 ] In April 2019 he apologised for diachronic dysphemistic tweets. [ 29 ] He was later charged with misbehave by the FA, [ 30 ] and fined £5,000 and put on an educational path. [ 31 ] He and his collaborator have two children born in 2018 and 2020.
