Callan Ryan Claude McAuliffe ( bear 24 January 1995 ) is an australian actor, known for his roles as Bryce Loski in Flipped and Sam Goode in I Am Number Four. He appeared as young Jay Gatsby in the 2013 film The Great Gatsby. As of 2017, he appears on The Walking Dead as Alden .

Callan McAuliffe is a native of the Sydney suburb of Clontarf. [ 1 ] He is the son of Claudia Keech, [ 2 ] and writer and diarist Roger McAuliffe. [ 3 ] His cousin is actress Jacinta John. [ 4 ] Two of his grandparents were Irish. [ 5 ]

McAuliffe attended Scots College, [ 6 ] an all boy school in Bellevue Hill. [ 2 ] He was the lead chorister at the school and topped the London Trinity musical field exams, scoring a high distinction in 2008. [ 7 ] He was a racetrack athlete until he was injured, leading to a stronger focus on the perform arts .

McAuliffe began acting at long time 8, appearing in the australian television series Comedy Inc. and Blue Water High. He then had a recurring function on Packed to the Rafters. He besides starred in the australian independent coming-of-age short film “ Franswa Sharl ” in 2009, and besides had a function in Resistance ( 2009 ). [ 1 ] McAuliffe made his american have debut in Flipped, directed by Rob Reiner. He auditioned for the film while on vacation in the United States and won the role of Bryce, the lead. In May 2010, McAuliffe was cast in a run role in the science fabrication film I Am Number Four based on the novel of the lapp title by Pittacus Lore, the film is produced by Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay. He played Sam, the best friend of Alex Pettyfer ‘s title character. [ 9 ] He then appeared in the australian miniseries Cloudstreet, based on the fresh of the like title by Tim Winton, playing young Quick Lamb. [ 9 ] McAuliffe appeared as young Jay Gatsby in the 2013 film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, directed by Baz Luhrmann. McAuliffe subsequently starred in Beneath the Harvest Sky ( 2013 ). [ 12 ] In 2015, McAuliffe joined the cast of The Legend of Ben Hall, an australian historical epic based on the truthful report of bushranger Ben Hall, where he portrays real-life gang member Daniel Ryan. McAuliffe was announced as a National Ambassador for UNICEF Australia in November 2013. [ 14 ] After his date, he said : “ It is an award to be invited to be a National Ambassador to UNICEF Australia and thus significant that is at a prison term where I can truly contribute. My friends, the actors I work with, and I, all have shelter, food and family. We need to help the children who are without these things. ” [ 14 ]

McAuliffe is the Youth Ambassador of Wolf Connection, a non-profit arrangement based in California, which rescues wolves and wolf-dogs, and besides has a youth education and authorization plan. [ 15 ]
