Geraldine Leigh Chaplin ( born July 31, 1944 ) [ 1 ] [ 2 ] is an american actress. She is the daughter of Charlie Chaplin, the first of eight children with fourth wife Oona O’Neill. [ 3 ] After beginnings in dance [ 3 ] [ 1 ] and model, [ 4 ] she turned her attention to act, and made her English-language act debut ( and came to prominence in what would be a Golden Globe -nominated function [ 5 ] ) in her portrayal of Tonya in David Lean ‘s Doctor Zhivago ( 1965 ). Geraldine Leigh Chaplin was born on July 31, 1944, in Santa Monica, California, [ 2 ] [ 1 ] [ 11 ] the fourth child of actor and film maker Charlie Chaplin, and the first child of his one-fourth wife, Oona O’Neill, [ 3 ] whom he married in 1943. The beginning was with spanish film director Carlos Saura, who directed her in several films. They have a son, Shane Saura Chaplin. Her second long-run kinship has been with Chilean cameraman Patricio Castilla, whom she married in 2006, and with whom she has a daughter, Oona, an actress in British and spanish films. In 1978, the Chaplin class were the victims of a fail extortion plot by kidnappers who had stolen the body of Charlie Chaplin. Geraldine Chaplin negotiated with the kidnappers, who had besides threatened her baby son. [ 25 ] As of 2011, Chaplin has maintained a home in Miami. She besides was spending time in residences between Madrid and Corsier-sur-Vevey, Switzerland ( the latter near the early long-time home of her and her father ). [ 26 ]
